  • Information from some vaccine manufacturers
VACCINES*
  • Considered more specialized travel vaccines: yellow fever, meningococcal disease, Japanese encephalitis, polio and two different vaccines for typhoid fever; polio and meningococcal vaccine are given to some who are non-travelers.
  • Considered more general vaccines, but any may also be useful for travelers: hepatitis A and B, influenza, pneumococcal disease and tetanus/diphtheria.
  • Also available are: rabies vaccine, MMR or measles vaccine, varicella (chicken pox) vaccine, Hemophilus influenza vaccine, and immune globulin for hepatitis A prevention.
AVAILABLE ITEMS*
  • US State Department Advisory for the country you will visit - printed for you in the office or linked through our home page.
  • Travelers Diarrhea Treatment Kit - contains loperamide and trimethoprim (antibiotic) with instructions for use.
  • Antimalarial drugs: chloroquine less expensively than any pharmacy; Lariam and Malarone generally less expensively than pharmacies; you may want a written prescription instead if your insurance will pay for these medicines.
  • Other written prescriptions: scopolamine patches for motion sickness prevention; Diamox for altitude sickness prevention; Ambien or Sonata for sedation during long flights for jet lag prevention; an antibiotic and antimotility drug for travelers’ diarrhea treatment (especially if your insurance has a prescription benefit); Cipro for dysentery treatment.
